The Atrial Fibrillation Division of St. Jude Medical (AFD), with locations in Maple Grove, Minnetonka, and St. Paul, MN, as well as Sunnyvale, CA, develops products to diagnose, treat and seek a cure for atrial fibrillation and other cardiac rhythm disorders. Position Summary The primary function of the Clinical Instructor is to deliver effective training curricula for various audiences to ensure certification level training for SJM employees and customers. Identifies the learning needs of these various audiences and utilizes advanced knowledge to adapt the content and the delivery of the curriculum. Essential Functions: Act as primary delivery of centralized training in the following categories: •New Field Clinical Engineers •Tenured Field Clinical Engineers (Advanced Training/New Product) •Sales representatives (Technical/New Product) •Physician Training •Allied Health Professionals Assist with keeping the training curricula current, following the ADDIE model of instructional design, for the following target audiences: •Employees: Field Clinical Engineers, Sales Representatives, Internal Employees •External Customers: EP Lab Staff, Physicians •On- line content Assist Program Managers in development of training programs for new product releases. Work with Program Managers to support implementation of field based training in the following categories: •New Center EP lab staff •New Center physician training •Support USD sales team with field visits to key centers to provide custom training Maintain and support Proficiency by keeping updated in current EP procedures and technology. •Support national symposia such as HRS •Attend local cases as need to maintain proficiency and acquire cases for education. Qualifications Minimum Job Requirements: Must have demonstrated expertise in a clinical specialty such as 3D mapping with the EnSite system. Knowledge of adult learning theory, motivational strategies, change theory, group process skills, leadership and teaching strategies. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Presentation skills required. Evidence of teaching and leadership role in the clinical or classroom setting. Requires ability to work in a fast-paced environment and may include working irregular hours. Must be able to organize, initiate and provide educational programs for all levels of students as described above. Great computer skills in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint, as well as Adobe Acrobat applications. Education: Bachelor’s degree in education, instructional design, nursing or a related science required. An emphasis on education, EP, instructional design preferred. Experience: Minimum 2 years experience as a Field Clinical Engineer in the 3D Cardiac Mapping industry, or training with content delivery. Minimum 5 years experience in the EP lab. EnSite System experience along with EP product experience is required. |
